SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist works with the Director of Human Resources to maintain accurate and confidential records related to those functions and strives to improve internal communication processes and personnel productivity and effectiveness for the benefit of the agency. Leads the organization's efforts to recruit, screen and select qualified applicants to fill open positions..
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend moderate level instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write basic reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs and charts.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
If required to drive to carry out the duties of this position: current drivers license and automobile insurance as required by Tennessee State Law.

The agency requires this position to complete 8 hours of continuing education per year covering topics that will contribute to improvements in carrying out the above responsibilities. Regulatory agencies may require some disciplines to have additional hours in order to be licensed or certified.
QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct phone screens with qualified applicants and schedule in-person interviews as appropriate.
- Review applications to ensure minimum qualifications are met.
- Checks references, orders background searches and drug screenings
- Maintains job posting boards and external/internal website for job posting opportunities.
- Works with all departments to ensure adequate staffing models are met.
- Builds relationships with external community to recruit staff from universities, job fairs, and staffing agencies.
- Provides new employee orientation on a monthly basis.
- Maintains HRIS and personnel file information. Collects needed information to keep database and personnel files up-to-date. Produces reports from HRIS and/or gathers information from personnel files to produce reports as needed.
- Prepares Performance Evaluation monthly emails to supervisors within established timeline.
- Assists Director of Human Resources with administration of benefits package and provides information to staff as requested.
- Assists employees regarding personnel issues by receiving information from staff and referring Director or Human Resources for appropriate action.
- Maintains confidential information.
- Prepares ID badges for new hires and replacement badges for staff as needed.
- Provides coverage for the Director of Human Resources as needed .
- Other duties may also be assigned.
