PROPERTY ACCOUNTANT
Our client, a growing Real Estate company based in the Triangle, is looking for a full-time Property Accountant. The individual must be a team-oriented, self-starter who can handle multiple accounting functions including property accounting, fixed assets, payroll, accounts receivable, and other month end closing tasks. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement!
Basic Duties:
Our client, a growing Real Estate company based in the Triangle, is looking for a full-time Property Accountant. The individual must be a team-oriented, self-starter who can handle multiple accounting functions including property accounting, fixed assets, payroll, accounts receivable, and other month end closing tasks. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement!
Basic Duties:
- Handle general ledger and transactional accounting for various commercial, residential and other entities as assigned
- Responsible for the monthly close process including standard monthly journal entries, accruals, and intercompany transactions
- Prepare and review account analysis to ensure that transactions are properly recorded
- Perform and/or review of bank reconciliations
- Prepare analysis in support of the financial reporting package
- Review of Profit & Loss statements and preparation of variance analysis
- Enter lease information into the accounting system
- Tenant CAM estimates and reconciliations
- Maintain average occupancy report and percentage rent calculation
- Prepare Fixed Asset additions and disposals and maintain comparative analysis to capital budgets
- Prepare annual property tax filings
- Independently review and process payroll for the Real Estate division on a bi-weekly basis. Prepare monthly payroll related journal entries and accruals.
- Adopt a continuous improvement mindset to identify and implement opportunities to streamline or improve accounting processes
- Assist with the annual budget process
- Assist with audit schedules as required
- Work on Special projects with Controller as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business from a four-year college or university
- Minimum 3-5 years accounting experience
- Real Estate Experience a plus
- Experience with accounting for multiple entities or locations a plus
- High level of proficiency with Excel required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented and organized with an ability to manage multiple priorities & deadlines
- Should be proactive, positive and results oriented
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external parties
