Health Information Management Coordinator
Location:Nashville, TN
Status:Full Time
Schedule: 8:00-5:00pm
Hours: 40/week
SUMMARY
The Health Information Management Coordinator provides clerical support to Health Information Management team. Ensures that patient medical records are complete.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Assists with the coordination of medical records under the supervision of the Health Information Management Manager.
No supervision of agency staff is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in
one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with careful attention to detail. Good written and verbal communication skills. Good telephone skills. Minimum typing skills. Communication and Relationship Skills: Exemplifies high level of written oral and listening communication skills, always respecting patient confidentiality.

CONTINUING EDUCATION
The agency requires this position to complete 12 hours of continuing education per year covering topics that will contribute to improvements in carrying out the above responsibilities. Regulatory agencies may require some disciplines to have additional hours in order to be licensed or certified.

- Audits patient discharge records for thoroughness and completeness and adherence to policies and procedures (e.g., appropriate signatures and dates).
- Reviews Electronic Medical Record for accuracy on discharged records.
- Follows up on delinquent documents i.e., hospital records, discharge records, staff entries or continuous care notes.
- Responsible for scanning paper entries to record for archiving purposes.
- Files documentation into the medical records as needed.
- Provides clerical support to the Health Information Management Manager.
- Serves as contact person for medical records functions in the absence of the Health Information Management Manager.
- Maintains confidentiality of information related to patients, families and staff.
- Other duties may also be assigned.
