Telecommunications Transport Engineer (Melrose, MN) Full-time

Position summary

As a Transport Engineer you will design efficient and cost-effective routes and electronics to meet the needs of current and potential customers and lead construction and installation projects.


You are required to have:
  • 5 or more years of experience troubleshooting, testing, and evaluating optical transport networks using tools such as OTDRs, light meters, optical scopes, and other related transport tools
  • 5 or more years of hands on configuration experience with optical transport networks (OTN), such as ROADM, DWDM, CWDM, Ciena 6500 series, and Z-Series equipment
  • 5 or more years of experience installation experience with commissioning and integrating optical network devices, fiber and cable managements and AC/DC/fuse panels
  • Knowledge of optical transport network engineering principles, guides, and standards
  • Knowledge of change management, maintenance, window activities and rollback procedures as they relate to migration strategies
  • Good documentation and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently; scope engineering deliverable content; collaborate with a team
Additional preferred qualifications:
  • Associate or technician degree in telecommunications or related preferred
  • Experience drawing complex system diagrams in Visio or Lucidchart
  • Experience with PON technologies, G-PON, XGS-PON, and FTTP

This position can be located in a variety of our work locations and could be a work-from-home opportunity for MN or ND residents.


Monday through Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM.
