CASES seeks a Grants Accountant who will enjoy building informative, reliable data reports and has excitement about data's impact in the non-profit world. Our ideal candidate is curious, generous, and can hustle to meet recurring monthly deadlines, is an effective communicator who pays attention to detail, and is able to work across disciplines and contribute to organizational excellence.
The Grants Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial, accounting, and grant support services to meet the needs of the organization and its funding sources. They will be responsible for performing the operations of post-award grant administration and related accounting duties, monthly and quarterly invoicing, budget vs. expense analysis, budget modifications, and journal entries for multiple grants. They will ensure compliance with the Contractors and CASES’ policies and regulations. The Grants Accountant will be responsible for informing Program Directors of spending irregularities, such as over or under-spending, and will provide forecasting to them, the Director, Grants & Contracts, and the Budget and Grants Manager. The Grants Accountant will provide support to the Finance/Administration Team as well as Program Directors, and Contractors through verbal and written communication. The Grants Accountant will be a thought partner with Fiscal, Senior Program, Development, and Information Services staff.

Responsibilities will include:
- Management of a portfolio of government grants
- Work closely with program management on budgets, budget modifications, and other financial requests
- Timely preparation and submission of periodic invoices and expenditure reports
- Monthly analysis of general ledger and process adjustments as needed
- Preparation of documents for program and agency-wide audits, assist in the preparation of financial reports
- Communicate clearly and accurately in both verbal and written mode concisely describing problems, and solutions related to invoicing, budgets and budget modifications, and reporting
- Perform duties in accordance with CASES’ mission, cultural competency, anti-discriminatory and other policies, and procedures
- Any other duties as required by the Director, Grants & Contracts, Budgets and Grants Manager, and senior staff
- Experience with federal, state, and city grant administration and accounting a MUST
- Experience with NYC’s HHS Accelerator and VIPS system a plus
- Knowledge of Financial Edge a plus
- Ability to multi-task, strong follow through skills: verbal and written
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of 2 years of work experience in grants management
- Intermediate knowledge with Excel; organizing data for pivot tables, v-lookups, sum ifs, and other excel formulas a MUST
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Detail oriented, highly organized, excellent communication (written and oral) and advanced analytical skills a MUST
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, multi-task, and follow instructions
- Excellent communication, goal setting, prioritization, and decision-making skills
- Commitment to social justice
