We are looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our finance team in our Santa Barbara office. This position will be responsible for all facets of day-to-day general ledger accounting. POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining all accounting records and preparing internal and external financial reports. Prepare and review financial statements and follow General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Reconciliation of all general ledger accounts, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, and deferred revenue reconciliations. Responsible for the completion of monthly close and the preparation of financial statements. Assist in reporting and monitoring of backlog. Assist in evaluation and development of internal control processes and documentation. Assist in cashflow forecasting and production revenue projections. Coordination with external auditors and other third parties for requests and inquiries.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS for Senior Staff Accountant:
A. ACCOUNTING
- Meets accounting operational standards by contributing financial information to strategic plans and reviews
- Monitor expenditures regularly, identifying variances in expenses and budgets, implementing corrective actions
- Manage bank account setup and account preferences
- Approve cash disbursements by verifying check amounts against invoices, authorizing checks and wire transfers
- Maintain financial security by adhering to internal controls
- . Assist in generating analytical reports, and month end financial reports
- Prepare monthly and annual general ledger reconciliations and workpapers, this includes preparation and recording of corresponding general ledger and cash management journal entries
- Assist with project accounting responsibilities and duties
- Assist with Accounts Payable processes and improvements
- Recommend enhancements to general accounting activities, ensuring procedures compliance, and efficient operations
- Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasting and production revenue projections.
- Provide and occasionally present to management team with financial reports and analytics as needed
- Assist in coordination with external auditors and other third parties for requests and inquiries
- Assist with preparing and monitoring company budgets.
- Assist Controller in various projects and implementations
- Provide support to Information Technology and Office Management teams
- Follow-up as needed to ensure a thorough understanding of each duty's requirements
- Maintain cordial, professional relationships with colleagues, management, client and the public
- Respond to phone calls and requests promptly
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned
- Attend meetings
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting/finance
- Understanding of GAAP principles and accounting concepts
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Positive and team-oriented attitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team or independently as required.
- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, commitment to excellence.
- Passion for problem-solving, strong analytical skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Experience with Sage 300 or Viewpoint by Spectrum
- Previous experience working for construction company.
- Experience supervising other accounting staff.
- Able to type and enter data accurately and quickly
- Able to enforce Allen Construction standards, policies and procedures
- Able to prioritize and organize work assignments and follow-up as necessary to achieve desired results
