Senior Property Accountant Full-time

Job Description

If you're someone in the Parsippany, Morristown, Fairfield, Hanover area who's looking for a fresh opportunity to use your established accounting skills. My client is looking to add a Senior Property Accountant (with Commercial Real estate experience) to the team. In addition to having 20 buildings under management and approximately 100 employees, the Senior Property Accountant would oversee a team of 17 within the accounting office.

We're currently seeking fast paced, energetic and outgoing problem solvers to join our exciting staff at this privately held, vertically integrated real estate company specializing in the development, management, and operation of Class A Commercial and luxury residential developments in the NY greater metro area. What you Need to Know:

This role will require familiarity with both construction and development Accounting for the company and therefore should have proven experience in real estate acquisition, lease contracts, vendor management, financial acumen, construction, and project management skills. They should be proactive, knowledgeable and possess excellent negotiation skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for general ledger accounting for several properties
  • Perform monthly billing for assigned properties
  • Apply cash receipts and follow-up on outstanding balances
  • Review expenses to verify adequacy of support and to ensure proper G/L classification
  • Reconcile assigned bank accounts
  • Reconcile AP and AR subledgers
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages
  • Review monthly budget to actual variance reports and prepare variance explanations
  • Prepare detailed quarterly and year-end financial statements and supporting work-papers
  • Calculate partners distributions monthly
  • Interface with the company's external auditors
  • Assist in preparation of ad-hoc reports and analyses as needed
  • Interface with personnel throughout the company to maintain the proper flow of information
  • Preparation of annual budgets and quarterly re-forecasts
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual True Ups / CAM reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly cash flow projections for joint venture partner
  • Prepare requisitions and follow through vendor payments
Requirements:
  • Sage experience a plus
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task while still exhibiting good judgment and poise in a fast-paced environment
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year

Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (Required)
  • Yardi or MRI experience (Required)
  • Commercial Property Management: 5 years (Required)
