Summary of Duties:
The Administrative Assistant performs complex secretarial and administrative duties in support of the Digital Technology and Culture program in the College of Arts and Sciences. The incumbent will manage the Director's calendars, serve as the office administrator for the Digital Technology and Culture unit and works closely with the finance/budget team. This position is responsible for serving as the primary point of contact and has frequent contact with faculty, staff, students, and internal and external constituents; maintaining program emails, acting as a faculty liaison, collecting course materials and evaluations, responsible for course scheduling, and event coordination for all events within the unit.
Required Qualifications:
  • One year of experience as an Administrative Assistant 1 OR a Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, or closely allied field and two years of responsible office experience at the senior clerical level or higher.
  • Clerical or office work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Graduate study may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience providing administrative oversight and assistance to a senior administrator preferably in a higher education environment.
  • Experience using SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of Washington State University including experience with university policies and procedures.
  • Professional working experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively handling confidential and sensitive information.

Monthly Salary: Range 37 $3,024 - $3,915 per month - Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
