Steps Community Coach

AbleLight College is looking for a Steps Community Coach to support our AbleLight College graduates out in the communities (Cedarburg, Mequon, Grafton and Port Washington).
This is a part-time position, preferably looking for someone that has flexibility in their work schedule to work during the day, evenings and/or weekends when needed to assist our Steps participants in accordance with their goal plans.
In addition, they will support STEPS participants in connecting to their communities through such assisting and/or transporting individuals to and from activities community events, activities, and volunteer opportunities. The SCC supports with modifications and accommodations for activities while assuring safety.

What we want to see from you:
- High School Education or equivalent
- Active Drivers? License and good driving record
- Ability to work either weekday, evenings and/or weekends shifts
- Ability to obtain and maintain all trainings and certifications as required by Federal and state licensure requirements
- Additional experience with people with developmental disabilities preferred
- Communication Skills (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company
- Ability to handle physical aspects of the job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching and walking for periods of time
- Proficient Computer Skills
- Detailed Oriented
- Ability to work independently
- Provides individual and group activities to STEPS participants.
- Provides support, modifications, and accommodations to people served with their individuals goals.
- Facilitate the participation of participants in typical and integrated activities (those used by the public), events and organizations in the participants neighborhood or local community in ways similar to other persons of the same age and interest
- Foster connections between participants and person without disabilities to increase social capital.
- Maintains open communication to STEPS Coordinator and other supervisors and team members of participant?s progress
- Documents progress by using our Therap system
- Support STEPS coordinator with identifying community resources and activities pertaining to the interest and skill level of STEPS participants
- Assists people with maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly home by following safety and infection control procedures; educates STEPS participants about maintaining homes
- Assists STEPS participants with fiscal management while safeguarding funds if needed for individual. This may include paying bills, reconciling accounts and assisting participants with their spending choices
- Accompany STEPS participants in community activities (e.g. Dr. appointments, scheduled events, shopping, baking, church, etc.)
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions
- Performs other duties assigned
