Job Brief

Lead the field HR team to execute talent management, workforce planning, employee relations, labor relations and HR processes in the supply chain and operations functions.

JOB TITLE: Human Resources Director LOCATION: Open

REPORTS TO: Chief Human Resources Officer CLASSIFICATION: Exempt


POSITION SUMMARY:

As a key member of the HR Leadership team, this position is responsible to lead the field HR team to execute talent management, workforce planning, employee relations, labor relations and HR processes in the supply chain and operations functions.


KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Business Leader
    • Executes the HR vision, direction and strategy outlined by the Chief Human Resources Officer.
    • Utilizes deep business knowledge and in-depth understanding of HR principles, processes and practices to partner with leaders to understand business objectives and people impacts at Foremost Farms.
    • Assists the HR Leader with analyzing industry and competitive issues impacting the organization.
    • Partners with business leaders, HR team and cross functional teams to drive appropriate HR initiatives.
  • Talent Leader
    • Lead the execution of HR processes throughout the field in a timely manner. Including performance management, annual compensation processes, employee engagement survey, open enrollment.
    • Focused on the development of field leaders to elevate capabilities at the frontline leader level and above.
    • Identifies opportunities and removes barriers to support the movement of resources across the organization to support both employee development and achieve business results.
    • Lead the overall workforce planning for field operations to ensure each plant location has the workforce and talent ready to achieve its objectives, including partnering with HR partners to develop comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet field and operations human capital needs.

  • Labor Management
    • Establishing and maintaining employee relations and labor relations processes consistently and effectively in alignment with our overall philosophy around employee experience.
    • Developing and implementing employee and labor relations practices and policies necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee engagement.
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive long term labor relations vision and strategy that is cost-effective for the company and balances work rules and flexibility in operations. Lead the collective bargaining agreement negotiations for the organization.
    • Managing grievance, arbitration and labor negotiations for union and work agreement locations.
    • Providing guidance and decision-making on proceedings for employee actions that may warrant investigations, disciplinary action and termination of employment.
  • Change Leader
    • Responsible for implementation of changes to organizational structures around strategic objectives, including mitigating risk for the business.
    • Responsible for building change capability which includes coaching, consulting and monitoring change.
  • Culture Champion
    • Ensures understanding of the culture and engagement levels for the company.
    • Functioning as a strategic business partner to the operations leaders on key organizational and labor issues and ongoing coaching to ensure employee engagement plans are complete. Activities may include:
      • Overseeing action planning activities and ensuring actions are aligned to drive improvement.
      • Coaching/Consulting leadership team on broad engagement actions for the organization.
    • Defines and implements actions to shape the desired culture of the company.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor?s degree with Human Resource Management or Business focus

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop others, team development and strong collaboration skills.

  • Minimum (8) eight years of Human Resources experience with generalist experience across employment law, compensation, benefits, recruitment, organizational planning and development, employee relations, safety and training.

  • Minimum (4) four years in a broad-based Human Resources management position, preferably in a logistics, distribution, transportation or manufacturing setting.

  • Strong knowledge of employment law, labor law and regulatory compliance with the ability to make appropriate decisions to achieve organizational objectives, while mitigating risk to the company.
  • Ability to appropriately communicate logical conclusions based on sound analysis.
  • Outstanding integrity, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Strong critical thinking/problem-solving and listening skills.
  • Strong leader with experience working with many teams and accomplishing goals through a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience thriving in a fast-paced, results-oriented, hands-on environment.
  • Transparent and authentic leader who values differences in thought and experience and appreciates the value of diversity.
  • Change leadership experience with strength in stakeholder management
  • Willing and able to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to travel, at least 50% within our plant network (Wisconsin/Michigan.)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position directly supervises the Human Resources Business Partner field team and is indirectly responsible for all field and operations employees within the company.
