As a Life Skills Case Manager you will work directly with children who are victims of child abuse and neglect. You will provide safe, educational supervised parenting time up to two times per week, and assist parents with using community resources, education and support in order to build parental capacity and self-sufficiency.
Responsibilities
Specifically, this position:
- Supervises parenting time for children in out-of-home-placement.
- Assesses and evaluates parenting skills. Provides skill-building around deficits to mitigate worry for child safety, specifically regarding the Six Protective Factors: nurturing and attachment, knowledge of child developmental stages, parental resilience, supportive social connections, access to concrete community support, social and emotional competence of children.
- Provides crisis support to some of the children/parents during parenting time if there are immediate, pressing concerns that are causing stress.
- Transports some children to and from parenting time as needed.
- Teaches basic life skills to others by example.
- Works in a team consisting of the family, family support network, Child Protection Caseworker, Guardian Ad Litem, care provider and other service providers.
- Testifies in court as needed.
- Documents on each contact with a family in a timely and accurate manner, and demonstrates effective observation, assessment, and documentation of family and/or client behaviors.
- Attends Family Unity Meetings, Family Group Conferences, Permanency Round Tables for each family on your caseload. Additionally, attends all unit meetings, individual and group supervision.

We are looking for a candidate that will:
- Have knowledge of family dynamics and effective parenting methods.
- Understand basic principles, practices and objectives as related to social services programs.
- Know emergency procedures including how to respond to crisis situations.
- Have safe driving techniques and proper restraint for passengers.
- Be knowledgeable on principles, practices and objectives as related to case management and planning in a social casework program.
- Act as a credible witness when testifying in court.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Be very familiar with advanced applications of community resources, agencies and organizations and how they affect or apply to cases.
- Contribute to development and implementation of a service plan.
- Effectively respond to conflict situations and people in conflict.
Qualifications
All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
This position will hire as Case Manager I or II depending on qualifications.
Case Manager I
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Sociology, Psychology, Human Services, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field required. Combination of education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
- One (1) year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License.
- Complete training and/or certification as mandated by the assigned program required.
Case Manager II
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Sociology, Psychology, Human Services, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field required. Combination of education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Case Manager I with Larimer County, or in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities required.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License.
- Complete training and/or certification as mandated by the assigned program required.

Supplemental Information
The typical schedule for this position is Tuesday through Friday 10am-7pm and Saturday 8am-5pm.
This position is a 60/40 remote/office hybrid position. You will be required to have adequate internet access and space for remote work. Larimer County provides an annual remote work stipend to assist with equipment and office supply needs for remote workspaces.
While working office, this position will be located at one of the following three locations: 1501 Blue Spruce Drive, Fort Collins, CO 2555 Midpoint Drive, Fort Collins, CO 200 Peridot Avenue, Loveland, CO.
Applicants must have access to the following items for reimbursed business use: a licensed, insured vehicle which seats three (3) passengers with seat belts and a mobile telephone.
All new employees and rehires will be required to submit fingerprints for a CBI criminal background check (c.r.s. 26-6-104).
An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
