Sr. Category Manager, Telecom
The Sr. Category Manager - Telecom will provide category management and strategic sourcing for the Technology ? Telecom category. Responsible for establishing the enterprise-wide category plan and leading sourcing events at global, regional, and business unit levels, as applicable. This individual will leverage their knowledge of telecom and IT functions in order to present market opportunities to internal customers and guide sourcing decisions. Working together with IT, Legal, Finance, Asset Management and internal customers, the Senior Manager will ensure that McKesson is procuring the right service(s) from the right supplier(s) at the right price, in support of our IT transformation and aggressive value creation goals.
Key Responsibilities -

• Owns category management for IT ? Telecom
• Specific sourcing expertise managing and negotiating with major Telecom suppliers, resellers, and systems integrators
• Works with internal stakeholders on current and future Telecom and IT objectives and business opportunities
• Partners closely with Business Units, IT leaders, and other Shared Services (i.e. Finance, Legal, Risk, Insurance, Privacy, etc.) to negotiate world class supplier agreements
• Converts potential projects into actionable sourcing events; drives people and processes to successful, timely completion
• Creates request for information (RFI), request for proposal (RFP), and other sourcing materials to develop and maintain leverage with potential and current suppliers
• Generates savings through various sourcing techniques including contract negotiations, demand management, supplier consolidation, technology transformation, and innovation
• Researches industry trends to stay aware of emerging opportunities in Telecom including evolving supplier capabilities and best practices for sourcing enterprise telecom solutions.
• Creates an annual Category Strategy that examines the market, supplier offerings, current and future needs, and aligns with key leadership stakeholders on a 1 to 3 year plan
• Maintains a Supplier Relationship Management program for our top strategic suppliers
• Works with other shared services groups on contract development, including Legal, Finance, Compliance, Privacy, Risk Management, and Information Security
• Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
• Assists with developing, maintaining, and enforcing Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
• Conducts self and the category with the highest ethical standards, ensuring that decisions are objective and fact-based
• Serves as point of escalation for commercial and contractual supplier issues

Minimum Requirements -

• 5+ years of IT Sourcing & Procurement, Purchasing, or Supply Chain
• 3+ years of strategic Telecom sourcing and category management experience

Critical Skills -

• Experience negotiating complex, emerging technology contracts for the Telecom space
• Knowledge of and experience with Telecom Expense Mgmt. (TEM) systems, preferably with Sakon
• Possesses current market knowledge of the industry ? to include key players, competitors, disruptors, substitutes, emerging trends and innovation
• Strong financial acumen with proven track record of delivering year-over-year financial improvements from rate reductions, asset and demand management, process optimization, and supplier innovation
• Experience developing a category strategy in coordination with key stakeholders within the business and with internal customers
• Strong relationship building and collaboration skills with customers and suppliers
• Proven ability to execute sourcing events on time and on plan, in support of business goals and objectives
• Demonstrated success working cross functionally with various groups and partners: Technology Teams, Category Leads & Managers, Technology Suppliers, Contracting & Sourcing Specialists, Sourcing & Procurement Business Services, Shared Service & Risk Management Teams
• Seasoned influencing skills with an enterprise mindset/global orientation

Additional Skills -

• Prior experience with the following preferred: Ariba, Bee Line, Qlik, Sakon

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree Required

5? 10 % travel required to meet with internal customers, suppliers, and shared service partners.
