The Medical Biller is responsible for the timely submission of medical claims to insurance companies and payers such as Medicare and Medicaid.

Responsibilities:

• Checks eligibility and benefits verification for visits.
• Submits prior authorizations and CMN confirmations.
• Reviews patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and obtains any missing information.
• Verifies correct coding to ensure prompt payment.
• Prepares, reviews, and transmits claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
• Follows up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
• Checks each payment for accuracy and compliance.
• Calls insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payment, if necessary.
• Identifies and bills secondary or tertiary insurances.
• Sets up patient payment plans and works collections accounts.
• Reconciles the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that payments are received and accounted for.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of insurance guidelines and other payer requirements.
• 1 - 2 years experience in Medicare, Medicaid, and private billing.
• 1 - 2 years experience using Brightree.
• Effective communication skills to deal with both patients and team members.
• Problem solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies.

Education and Experience:

• Two years of experience in clerical/office support work and/or education at the high school level.
• Minimum of two years billing experience - DME preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
