Contracts Administrator 3 Full-time

Overview of Position
Assist and advise the Client and Account Managers by evaluating, coordinating, disseminating, and analyzing Payor Contracting in the Pathology and Laboratory Functions.


What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Review managed care contracts and provide written overview and/or verbal explanations as requested by Clients and Account Managers.
  • Review, compare and analyze carrier/client fee schedules and provide written recommendations as required.
  • Assist client management and supervisory staff with resolution of Managed Care issues (ie: Provider Holds, resolving missing or deactivated enrollment numbers, ensuring various Payors have correct information for each Client).
  • Assist with enrollment for commercial payers and issue resolution as needed.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with various Payor and Client representatives (ie: Managed Care Administrators, Credentialing Personnel, Carrier Reimbursement Departments, Carrier Medical Directors and Carrier Contracting Departments) to secure agreements and maximize reimbursement rates.
  • Provide assistance with obtaining and establishing databases of statistical information.
  • Obtain and update Payor and Client Contract information (ie: reimbursement rates); and various other job duties as requested and assigned.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources; sets goals and objectives; organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; develops realistic action plans.
  • Meets quality and productivity standards; completes work in timely manner.
  • Assist or take responsibility for training of new team members as needed.


What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • 4-year degree in business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of Managed Care or Contract Administration experience.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with multiple teams in a healthcare billing capacity.
  • Ability to analyze and utilize data, to apply procedural development techniques and review reimbursement information and to manage upward and downward communication.
  • Ability to trend data, develop solutions and implement process improvements resulting in efficiencies to client metrics.
  • Strong communication skills among team, corporate office, and senior management in all areas.
  • Follow up in a timely manner on open items.
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos, written correspondence, and effectively present information in written or verbal format to client management, clients and other employees of the organization as needed.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
