University Academic Events Manager Full-time

We are seeking a University Academic Events Manager who will provide leadership to further the brand of Parker University through interaction with external groups of prospective students, community businesses, and VIP guests of the university president and provost. This position will be a highly visible, positive, and professional representative of Parker University, proactively building a pipeline of groups to visit the campus and learn more about the university. This position will create and manage an academic events calendar, collaborating with university departments such as Provost?s Office, Security, Facilities, IT, Academics, and Student Affairs so that planned maintenance, classes, and university events are considered. The Academic Events Manager is a new position suited for public relations or sales managers who have the professional ability and polish to collaborate with university executives and develop the position into a highly effective role that furthers the brand of the university.


Ability to proactively develop and manage a new initiative of university outreach to the business and education community to increase Parker University's brand recognition. Establish and oversee a comprehensive university events calendar and tour program, displaying good communication and public relations skills; professional appearance and attitude; ability to relate to all levels of students, staff, faculty, and executives; and advanced organizational skills.



  • Bachelor?s degree
  • Professional experience in a higher education environment is preferred with an understanding of educational programs and services
  • Experience within the public sector and public speaking
  • Business development experience
  • Previous sales experience is a plus
  • Experience interacting with VIPs and executive leadership


  • Ability to lift fifteen (15) pounds.
  • Excessive walking.

  • Build Parker University brand recognition by reaching out to appropriate community groups to build a pipeline of scheduled tours; ability to work independently to oversee the pipeline and increase Parker University's brand in the community
  • Planning, organizing, and managing campus tours for a variety of diverse groups and individuals (high school students, VIP guests of university executives, event groups, Parker Seminar groups, etc.), monitoring guest safety
  • Provide program information/swag bags to prospective students; appropriate gifts to visiting VIPs
  • Create, build, and retain relationships with community groups to advertise appropriate academic events and promote campus tours
  • Work with key university stakeholders to sync tours with planned campus maintenance, IT maintenance, and classes to avoid overlap or interruption
  • Maintaining updated information and calendar for all academic events, including campus tours
  • Proven proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook email and calendar
  • Additional duties as required
