Position Summary:


The Technical Documentation Manager for R&D Americas is accountable for driving the end-to-end technical documentation process as it relates to ingredients specifications, formulations, process specifications, finished product specifications and consumer facing labeling for the Americas region (US, Canada and LATAM ?Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Central America, Caribbean).


This position is responsible for simplifying and improving the technical documentation process and to ensure that all the information is available to users and is also accurate, consistent and compliant with McCain policies and relevant legislations. The Technical Documentation Manager will drive cross-functional project progress and advance integrated data management strategies for R&D. The Technical Documentation Manager will provide leadership and performance management to the Technical Documentation team.


This position will be the Americas regional representative for the newly created PLM Center of Expertise (CoE) to:

1) regionally define and maintain Global PLM data governance, auditing, & quality policy;

2) regionally define, develop, implement and communicate PLM process changes and system enhancements and;

3) to contribute to overall PLM Global systems & data strategy for Operating Support, Enhancement Planning, Training and Adoption.


Core Accountabilities:


Leadership/ Organizational Development:

  • Produce a high performing and engaged team which is geographically dispersed and capable of handling the volume of day to day business specification needs and projects for the Americas region. The Americas region involves about 2100 finished goods and 1200 ingredients in our system that need to be maintained up to date.
  • Foster an attitude of teamwork within the regional technical documentation team.
  • Drive business desired service levels for Material Master Request Forms (MMRF) and Material Change Authorizations (MCA?s)
  • Develop Technical Documentation strategic business goals and integrated into team performance plans.
  • Drive Personal Development Planning.
  • Produce Technical Documentation development policies and procedures that align with the key elements of quality and Global PLM platform.
  • Drive global and local improvement and alignment in PLM utilization.
  • Implement Technical Documentation processes and tools using change management practices.


Subject Matter Expert of Technical Documentation processes and systems (FRM and PLM):


  • Provide technical specification expertise in the following areas: ingredients, formulations, finished goods, production process, labeling (product naming, nutritional data entry and ingredient statement) according to USDA, FDA and CFIA regulation.
  • Drive the development, design, implementation and maintenance of technical documentation to assure accuracy, consistency and integrity.
  • Improves business processes and supports critical business strategies by managing the development, implementation, and maintenance of business applications systems.
  • Contribute to building strategy development for future simplification, deployment and optimization of the McCain global technical documentation system and process.
  • Leads specification report projects and provides documentation and UAT for developers to ensure that report specifications are met.
  • Contribute as an SME, representing the region on the PLM Center of Expertise.


Communication:

  • Interact with internal R&D functions (product and process development) and R&D key partners (innovation, MKT, sales, finance, Data Management..) in all matters related to technical documentation creation.
  • Engage with business partners (MDM, BD, SC, Finance..) and drive action around FRM/ PLM system and data capabilities.
  • Provide business useful and accurate data queries.
  • Being a key point of contact from the R&D organization to the Master Data Organization.
  • Lead efforts to optimize the use and accuracy of electronic Technical Documentation.


Qualifications:


Academic:

Must have: Bachelor's in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Business or IT

Nice to have: Master's Degree

Professional/ Technical Accreditation:

Nice to have: Project Management Certification

Related Work Experience (Internal to the organization or external):

Requires at least 4 years of experience with technical documentation (specifications) and applications development and a minimum of 8 years food industry experience with interaction with regulatory area. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.
