We are currently seeking a Head of Agency Innovation to join the Strategic Innovation Group, a small internal team that works across the enterprise enabling our business partners to learn and apply the fundamental principles and practice of innovation. The Strategic Innovation Group (SIG) was established in 2019 to work on future-focused opportunities. We are committed to equipping Cincinnati Insurance?s associates, agents and partners with the skills, tools and capabilities needed to succeed in a digital and data-intensive world. The Head of Agency Innovation will join a team with a broad innovation mandate including innovation in the core of our business (Everyday Innovation), innovation with startups and academic partners (External Innovation), innovation outside the core (Breakthrough Innovation) and innovation in partnership with our agents (Agency Innovation). In addition, the SIG team serves as innovation ambassadors across Cincinnati Insurance and with our agents, academic partners and startups in insurtech, fintech, healthtech and more.
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Innovation, the Head of Agency Innovation will be instrumental in discovering new ways for Cincinnati to live its mission of being the best company serving independent agents in the 21st century. The relationships that we have with our agents form the basis of Cincinnati?s sustainable competitive advantage in the insurance market. As our agents? businesses change, we have an opportunity to innovate the way we develop, nurture and grow our relationships with them. The Head of Agency Innovation will use the tools and techniques of innovation to support our company?s profitable growth within our agency plant by partnering with our agents to evolve the independent agent as a distribution channel for insurance and other risk management products and services.
Be Ready To:
- define strategic priorities for agency innovation in close collaboration with CIC?s Business Leaders and with special emphasis on groups that have direct contact with agents: Commercial Lines Sales & Marketing, Personal Lines Marketing, Life Sales Field, Claims, Risk Management (Personal Lines) and Loss Control (Commercial Lines), and Customer Care Center (CIC?s in-house service center for agents)
- cultivate internal networks that result in active engagement and high trust relationships with business partners to link agency innovation with Cincinnati?s business innovation ventures
- cultivate external networks with agencies to align Cincinnati?s innovation ventures with the needs and innovation activities of our agency plant
- refine and execute the roadmap for an existing program that supports small, future-focused agencies interested in adopting new technologies (called Spyglass) including resource requirements
- develop and run a program (called Care Center as Innovation Lab) to leverage Cincinnati Customer Care Center?s investment in new technologies for all interested CIC agents
- develop and maintain a central repository of knowledge about emerging technologies that impact our agency plant and a consensus point of view collaborating with the Head of External Innovation, CIC?s Field Sales and Marketing leadership and IT
- partner with Corporate Communications and Marketing and the Head of External Innovation to develop a roadmap for disseminating Cincinnati?s perspective on tech-enabled innovation to the agency plant
- collaborate with the Heads of Everyday and Breakthrough Innovation to define when there is mutual benefit to more fully integrating agencies into the innovation venture programs and conducting pilots
- use innovation methodologies to broaden our reach into the independent agency channel
- establish method for monitoring and measuring impact of agency innovation on the business
- serve as a vocal and visible supporter within the company and CIC ecosystem for innovation
Be Equipped With:
- demonstrable experience with innovation methodologies and tools
- ability to develop an entirely new capability within a traditional, successful organization
- relevant experience in and understanding of the independent agent channel and the P&C and Life insurance industry
- relevant experience within large corporate organization, navigating the politics of established, large successful organization with traditional management structure
- excellent influencing skills; persuasive communications skills; ability to forge effective relationships that cross internal and external boundaries
- a passion for leading the insurance industry into the future
- zest for being a collaborative team player
- ability to work independently and autonomously
- a bias for action, speed, and results ? self-starter, quick study
- ability to work across all levels of seniority especially in challenging situations that require advocacy
