Payroll and Accounting Manager

Superior Brokerage Services, Inc. (SBS) is excited to add an experienced Payroll and Accounting Manager to our team. The Payroll Accounting Manager will oversee the payroll department, as well as perform financial and bank duties associated with payroll. Responsibilities also include payroll and benefit reconciliations, maintaining internal control policies & procedures, and being a resource for others. There will be a good level of oversight and training with this position as we transition one of our top-level team members with 10+ years at SBS to a more specified role. This position will also serve as a backup to our Accounting Manager for essential duties dealing mainly in banking activities. This position works very closely with the Accounting Department Manager and Chief Financial Officer who are extremely motivated for this new team member?s success and continued development.
Hours are standard office hours, M-F. Annual Salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000 based on qualifications.

Responsibilities and Duties: *
- Provides overall leadership and supervision to Payroll Specialist. Provides direction with inquiries and issues that may arise regarding the processing of weekly timecards, uploads to financial software, and reporting.
- Maintain payroll best practices to ensure continuous improvement of the payroll function. Configuring, optimizing, and utilizing the UKG (Ultimate Software) system to its full potential.
- Perform Ad hoc reporting and analysis for payroll and financial statements, investigating problems, providing explanations and interpretation.
- Prepare monthly reconciliation of payroll and benefit related accounts.
- Develops, implements, and maintains accounting and payroll policies and procedures.
- Participates in external audits related to payroll (work comp, 401K.)
- Serve as backup for Daily Bank activities including approvals, recording, reconciliations, and Direct Deposit vendor payments.
- Serve as backup for New Vendor setup and 1099 compliance.
- Serve as backup for to Direct Deposit vendor payments.
- Serve as a resource and backup to others.

Required Skills/Abilities: *
- Higher level knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Understanding of payroll administration, controls, governance, and compliance obligations related to payroll and payroll taxation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment while keeping others informed as appropriate.
- Highly analytical with a sharp focus on detail and accuracy; able to think logically yet broadly to solve immediate issues, identify and diagnose root cause of systemic issues, and take a leadership role in driving improvements and efficiencies.
- Must have the ability to consistently produce accurate work product while successfully managing multiple priorities at once and deliver with a sense of urgency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Performs work in a self-directed manner and works with less structured, more complex issues
- Excellent attention to detail
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting, Business, or relevant area.
- Five plus years of relevant experience in payroll - leading payroll functions and processes.
- Three years of supervisory experience.
