Job Summary
The Production Supervisor directs and manages processes including production, safety, and quality requirements in assigned departments in order to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support, foster, promote, and demonstrate Stairtek?s Core Values; Whatever it Takes, Open to Change, High Standards, and Think Like a Customer.
- Responsible for the overseeing daily activities of all wood plant personnel and ensuring activities of the Wood Plant are conducted in accordance with company policies, principles, procedures, values, and standards.
- Ensure all production personnel in all departments have a clear understanding on production requirements, including, but not limited to; volume, quality standards, safety requirements, cost constraints, and scheduling.
- Manage, initiate, and direct activities of production employees and equipment.
- Allocate work to employees, setting production targets and communicating effectively with employees 1:1 or in a group.
- Responsible for working with the management team to identify, develop, and initiate training and development opportunities for employees.
- Understand and assist with preparing operational schedules when needed.
- Coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality meets specifications.
- Advance initiatives that promote and sustain the safety, health, security, and welfare of all employees.
- Maintain safe, clean, orderly (5s), and environmentally compliant production operations.
- Provide direction to and development of staff through timely daily coaching, the administration of performance management and the creation and implementation of development plans.
- Execute supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Resolves employee grievances with collaboration from the Human Resources Manager.
- Build an inclusive environment that attracts, retains, and inspires a diverse and engaged team.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Required Skills / Experience
- A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing TQM, ISO, Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma is preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to include influencing, collaboration, and building of strong, lasting relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated competence to work with minimum supervision effectively with all levels in the organization.
- Basic computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications is preferred.
Academic / Educational Requirements
- A Bachelor?s Degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred.
Working Conditions
