Seeking candidates wanting to start a career in technology, design, and network engineering in the booming telecommunications industry. We are looking for an entry level CAD Drafter / Designer for our Designer In Training position that will lead into a professional OSP Design Engineer role. Extensive training provided in OSP network engineering using our proprietary Unity GIS mapping software. No specific CAD experience required, any design software experience is a plus ? Adobe, 3D modeling, ArcGIS, SketchUp, etc.
ABOUT US
Established in 1994 as a one-man operation, Rainbow Design Services has since grown to be a proud leader in the telecommunications industry with 500+ diverse employees. We partner with some of the nation?s largest telecom companies to survey, draft, and design coax and fiber routes across America. Recently, we were contracted for several large-scale projects for new clients. We are now looking to hire and fast-track the training of new designers as we celebrate our 27th year in business.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Designer in Training program will equip you with the technical knowledge and the tools to become a full-fledged OSP Designer within a target timeframe of 90-180 days. In this role, you will receive two weeks of (paid) formal classroom training, in which you will gain a hands-on understanding of the design software and the project specifications. Once you complete training, your learning will continue on the floor as you deepen your familiarity with the program, specs, and different design scenarios through completing live design work.
Ultimately, the task of the Designer in Training is to produce accurate, efficient, and cost-effective digital design schematics and deliverables for the client(s) of Rainbow Design Services. You will work in an accelerated learning capacity to route, draft, design, and document aerial and underground telecommunication networks using GIS mapping platforms and other CAD software. While this position requires considerable independent judgement to interpret and apply project specifications, you will receive on-going support and supervision from the leadership team, and will have numerous available avenues to escalate scenarios and ask questions.
** This position includes full comprehensive benefits, with an introductory pay rate of $18/hour, and ongoing training opportunities in the booming telecommunications industry.
