Piper Life Sciences is seeking an immunology-focused Discovery Scientist for a biopharmaceutical company in Beltsville, MD. This position generates new research and development efforts for clinical-stage products in the therapeutic pipeline.

Responsibilities for the Discovery Scientist includes:

? Design and perform novel assays to isolate and characterize ligand/receptor interactions and protein complexes in the plasma membrane, intracellular and extracellular space

• Develop techniques such as crosslinking-mediated pull-down, tyramide-mediated proximity-labeling, and BioID/Air-ID-mediated proximity-labeling to screen for novel protein interactions
• Develop and implement techniques to validate binding interactions
• Coordinate with team members to validate the function of novel protein interactions
• Coordinate and prioritize tasks across multiple projects
• Communicate scientific results and conclusions in written reports and oral presentations

Qualifications for the Discovery Scientist includes:

? PhD in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Cellular Biology, or related field

? Extensive experience in biochemical and protein chemistry techniques (protein IP and crosslinking, proximity-labeling, gel electrophoretic and Western analyses)

? Proficiency in DNA cloning/molecular biology and cell culture

? Skilled in approaches to validate binding interactions such as ELISA, OCTET, SPR and FRET

? Experience with collecting and interpreting mass spectrometry-based proteomics data preferred

? Demonstrated ability to investigate and incorporate new techniques and instrumentation

? Outstanding project management, organizational and multi-tasking skills

? Strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to work in matrix team environment

? Industry experience highly preferred

Compensation for the Discovery Scientist includes:

• Salary Range: approximately $100,000 - $130,000, commensurate of experience
