Responsibilities:

  • Continue development of a comprehensive, well-conceived, and effective four-year college counseling process that will guide students and parents through the college admissions process with the ultimate goal being an appropriate placement for each senior.
  • Create an effective conference plan for individual students.
  • Establish effective programs, group meetings and presentations for classes, parents, and students at critical junctures in the college counseling process.
  • Work with students to establish goals and four-year academic plans.
  • Work with faculty on completing teacher letters of recommendation and information/changes on Naviance.
  • Maintain and actively participate in college-affiliated memberships such as National

Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC), Southern Association of College
Admission Counseling (SACAC), etc. to stay informed in matters impacting college counseling.

  • Schedule visits and host college representatives to campus or virtually.
  • Oversee the dissemination of all information regarding the college application process.
  • Provide scholarship and financial aid information to school students and families.
  • Confidentially notify Jrs & Srs of testing fee waiver eligibility.
  • Assist students with college and scholarship applications.
  • Complete in a timely manner all supporting documents required for students? applications.
  • Work with the school registrar to keep accurate permanent records of students? testing and academic work.
  • Assist the Director of Marketing and External Communications in maintaining the college-related web pages.
  • Maintain and update college counseling reference library, both the physical and the online.
  • Maintain and update student and class records in Naviance and continue to encourage effective use of this resource.
  • Develop a High School Profile each fall.
  • Work with other appropriate school personnel to determine college awards and nominations for certain scholarships/programs.*
  • Collaborate with the athletics department regarding athletic recruitment.
  • Maintain current records with NCAA Clearinghouse.
  • Contribute, assist in the organization of, and participate in Senior Awards Ceremony,

Signing Day, and Graduation.

  • Prepare and administer the college placement budget.
  • Be the DSO for international students (works with PSDO & SEVIS site).
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
  • Participate as an active member of the Administrative Team/Academic Council.
  • Perform other duties which may be within the scope of his/her employment as may be assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal of Academics (such as advisory duties, committees, AdvancED accreditation work, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • A desire to provide college advising within the framework of the mission of Loyola

College Prep

  • A Master?s degree or equivalent is an advantage.
  • Interpersonal skills in listening to, working with, communicating with students, parents, faculty and staff, and college admission personnel
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Trustworthiness and integrity with all constituencies
  • Time-management and organizational skills so as to handle details, deadlines, programs, etc.
  • Open-mindedness and willingness to assess current programs and develop new program elements to enrich the quality of the college placement program

Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
