PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Under general direction, this position is responsible for supervising and coordinating hospital services activities (including BioCARE) and staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Is responsible for bringing compliance issues to the attention of management.
Assures quality customer service to all customers.
Assures all routine and special orders are properly filled and delivered to customers.
Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates performance of personnel. Identifies and effectively resolves personnel issues.
Actively manages blood and blood component inventories and coordinates special component product needs with other departments.
Assures all data entry and record maintenance is completed.
Coordinates and maintains Hospital Services equipment and vehicles and updates applicable records and charts. Performs quality control of storage equipment and shipping procedures. Performs corrective action for unscheduled storage alarms and documentation of equipment maintenance as needed.
Participates in committees and coordinates cross-departmental communications and activities.
Conducts product quarantine, recalls and/or withdrawals of blood products. Ensures missing products are researched and resolved.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/Education
Associate's degree or equivalent in experience required.
Working knowledge of inventory management principles preferred.
Skills/Abilities
Good communication and HR skills, both verbal and written, in order to deal effectively with company employees and hospital staff.
Proven computer proficiency.
Physical ability to lift, bend, stretch, reach, and sit.
Basic supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate staff.
Able to maintain donor, patient and employee confidentiality.
Must be able to work on-call, various shifts including evenings and weekends, and overtime.
Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.
Experience
Two years related experience required.
One year supervisory experience required.
