Business Analyst Full-time

The candidate in this position will help analyze, define, and document requirements that translate customer needs into technology solutions that promote the company?s strategic goals. This individual will use their IT and property-and-casualty insurance industry experience to lead initiatives that will build out and mature our next generation policy administration systems and policyholder, agent, and customer experience journeys.

  • Partners with business unit representatives, technology resources, and customer experience colleagues to design impactful customer journeys.
  • Collaborates with other team members to define business requirements and use cases to meet the end-users? needs with proven ability to conduct one-on-one, small- and large-group interviews on technology and system concepts.
  • Documents business requirements, aligning IT and business partners in understanding technology solutions while bridging gaps between stakeholders, sponsors, and technical resources.
  • Translates customer and business innovations into documented and detailed technical requirements for impacted technology teams to redesign customer journeys, leveraging key findings from current state analysis and utilizing best practice tools and techniques.
  • Partners with business areas in creating process workflow documentation while defining system integration and user-acceptance test plans with subsequent results analysis.
  • Assists with bug issues/fixes remediation, leading small groups of IT and business partners through cause analysis, brainstorming, troubleshooting, and solutioning towards resolution.
  • Represents and supports Personal Lines business unit, acting as a liaison between the business unit / Product Owner and IT for initiative requests.
  • Contributes to the development of an overall implementation plan with the ability to leverage research and analysis of the business and functional needs, using organizational skills to help plan iteratively as drive successful outcomes.
  • Executes internal and some external client communications, including various written communications, one-on-one client conversations, and large-group presentations
  • Assists with orientation and training of end-users for modified and new systems.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in the insurance industry, or with insurance industry applications or tools; personal lines products and tools experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with enterprise policy administration management, Guidewire, or other modern packaged policy, claims, and billing administration systems initiatives a plus.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in gathering requirements, testing, and supporting business/technology applications and/or systems preferred.
  • 1+ years of Agile/Scrum experience preferred.
  • Experience in software development lifecycles and methodologies, including DevOps or Agile delivery models, with emphasis on Scrum process framework.
  • Experience interviewing business sponsors and other stakeholders to gather and document requirements as stories into functional/non-functional specifications to include objectives for initiative business and functional requirements, design/data models, page/process flows, success metrics, and use cases.
  • Ability to think critically and effectively communicate with customers and stakeholders (internal and external), technology teams, and multiple business units while leveraging a keen understanding of multiple leadership, communication, and thinking styles.
  • Experience with problem management, change control, and ability to influence change.
  • Experience partnering with multiple small teams with high visibility across products/ business capabilities with experience identifying and managing dependencies within and across teams preferred.
  • Must possess strong organizational and prioritization skills and competence and capacity to handle multiple initiatives while managing conflicting priorities.
  • Bachelor?s degree in business or a related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Basic experience with Agile tools Confluence and JIRA preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 preferred.
  • Some knowledge of API services, implementation, documentation, and data mapping preferred, or willingness to develop skills.
  • Some knowledge of databases or willingness to develop SQL skills.
