Description:
The Nuclear Energy Institute is looking to hire an External Communications Specialist to join our external communications team. Operating within the larger Communications Division, the external communications team?s mission is to effectively reach and persuade key stakeholders and policymakers and build support for nuclear carbon-free energy. The External Communications Specialist will provide essential support to both the content and media relations teams, including assisting with developing and publishing web, email, and social media content and utilizing social media management tools to monitor emerging events and news stories.
The ideal candidate will have an enthusiasm for supporting new, innovative ways to communicate the benefits of nuclear carbon-free energy, and be passionate about working towards solving our climate crisis. A successful candidate will be highly detail-oriented, and excel at working efficiently without error to consistently meet deadlines.
This position will report to the Senior Director, External Communications and will work closely with the Senior Director on the execution of special projects, including executive speechwriting, and on NEI?s external communications strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Content Team to develop, publish, and promote content including video products, long-form written pieces such as blog posts and articles, website pages, e-newsletters and email campaigns.
- Provide support for fellow content team members as needed. Such activities could include proofing stories and other content, creating daily social content, attending meetings, posting website content, and producing analytics reports.
- Support the execution of NEI?s external communications strategy including research for speechwriting, pre- and post-production of video content.
· Support the media team through reporter database management and research for media interviews and pitching.
- Work closely with colleagues across NEI to ensure alignment on messaging and content approach.
Work Experience/Education:
- Minimum two years of experience writing for multiple platforms.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English or public relations.
- Experience in energy sector preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must demonstrate the ability to write persuasively, quickly and accurately in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills to develop accurate, credible and persuasive representation of NEI positions.
- Excellent organization and time management skills, and ability to juggle multiple projects, work independently, keep track of short- and long-term priorities, and meet deadlines reliably.
- Proficiency in multimedia communications platforms and tools, including email, website, social media, advertising and video.
- Ability to work well with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency using a range of operating systems, digital platforms and apps. Working knowledge of various software including content management systems, preferably Kentico.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
