JOB OVERVIEW: Louisiana Pain Specialists is looking for an Insurance Collections Specialist.
Primary Job Functions:
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines especially Medicare and state Medicaid
- Downloading ERA?s from various databases for accurate account posting
- Timely ERA and manual payment posting to assigned accounts
- Knowledge of IVANS and DDE system; keep up to date
- Follow up on unpaid or short paid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe
- Check each insurance payment is for accuracy and compliance with contract discount
- Call insurance companies or file appeals regarding any discrepancy in payments or denials if necessary
- All accounts are to be reviewed thoroughly and timely prior to making patient responsible
- Answer all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to billing on assigned accounts.
- Participates in educational activities and attends monthly staff meetings.
- Conducts self in accordance with privacy practices.
- Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA regulations.
- Back ?up for Medical Biller: Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information, Submit clean claims both manually and electronically to various insurance companies in a timely manner. Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances. Prepares, reviews and sends patient statements.
Most Demanding Tasks: * Reviewing all payments for accuracy, appealing denials or underpaid claims if necessary.
- Posting payments from manual batches and ERAs.
- Maintain up to date billing information on various insurance companies and any relevant changes
- Communicating important billing changers to appropriate staff
- Cope with varying and unpredictable situations
QUALIFICATIONS: (EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE):
BACKGROUND REQUIRED:
High school diploma or GED
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 ? 3 years in an insurance collections setting
- Successful customer service and healthcare/insurance experience 1-2 years
- Experience in office/clerical environment 1-2 years
- Computer and spreadsheet experience 1-2 years
Skills & Certifications: * Strong computer/keyboarding skills
- Type 25 wpm
- 10 key proficient
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
Competencies: * Ability to deal with stress and high demands
- Have excellent written, oral, and telephone communication skills.
- Demonstrate high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Have strong follow-through on tasks and assignments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
