Position Information

Patrols assigned areas and collects money deposited in parking meters; issues citations for meter and non-meter parking violations; operates a panel truck in conjunction with the work; and performs other related duties as required.
Positions require working outside; extensive walking (5-8 miles), sometimes uphill and/or on uneven terrain; heavy lifting (up to 200 pounds with assistance) of coin storage boxes; frequently moving in and out of an automobile; and subject to inclement weather while operating an automobile. Work schedule may include rotating work week, and weekends.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One year of work experience involving public contact.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3), prior to appointment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a special police commission prior to completion of probation. During the probationary period, selectees shall be fingerprinted, photographed, and subject to a background investigation by the Honolulu Police Department.
