The Production Manager will provide oversight and direct plant personnel to achieve Departmental goals in Production, Shipping/Receiving, Quality/ISO and EHS. Ensure adequate supplies are maintained to meet plant needs with a mindset towards cost control. Establish and maintain a framework to promote and achieve continuous improvement in all facets of the operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guarantee continuous improvement throughout the plant, while utilizing a thorough understanding of all plant functions and operations.
  • Launch and maintain process specifications for all extruded products.
  • Ensure adequate inventory levels for all plant supplies in order to meet production requirements.
  • Establish criteria for vendor selection and keep stipulations current, keeping in mind current supply costs and the impact on plant profitability.
  • Utilize knowledge of current plant goals and capabilities, along with Quality Control requirements in order to support efficient plant operations.
  • Motivate and lead the workforce toward the achievement of established organizational goals.
  • Assure compliance with all company policies, including proper PPE requirements.
  • Document and keep current basic work instructions, policies, procedures or other directional material.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work environment.
  • Review, approve and address any discrepancies on payroll hours for all direct reports.
  • Collaborate with Machine Service and Application Manager to determine the optimum process routing and conditions for new sample products.
  • Assist product development in monitoring the quality and ?run ability? of samples in each production line.
  • Assist in the repair and maintenance program.
  • Research new products and process capabilities, integration, and report development to the Plant Manager for consideration into platform business plans.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.

POSITION(s) SUPERVISED: All hourly plant operation employees; specifically, Floor Supervisors and Line Crews.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

  • Understand how to operate PPY for process purposes.
  • Use Melt Indexer to maintain the density of the melt flow density of the product.
  • New Product Introduction with Sales and Plastic Application Manager
  • Ability to use various tools to perform repairs, modification and preventive maintenance on production lines.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS degree in Chemical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Manufacturing or industrial experience required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with the ability to create excel spreadsheets required.
  • Ability to develop performance standards/measurement tools and promote a team environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • High level of professionalism is required in order to interact courteously with others in a team environment.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel on occasion, grasp with hand/fingers.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • There will be some contact with liquid paint, solvents, greases and oils.
