Robotics/Engineering Educator Full-time

Job Summary: SR1, a 501 (c) non-profit, has openings for Robotics/Engineering Educator to join its family. The Robotics/Engineering Educator will support SR1?s STEM projects. The Robotics/Engineering Educator will be responsible for improving students? conceptual knowledge in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, preparing students for the FIRST Tech Challenge robotics competition, and other duties as assigned by the President/CEO. Candidate must have reliable transportation, must demonstrate qualities of reliability, consistency, dependability, sense of responsibility, and an ability to maintain confidentiality.Weekends required due to robotics team schedule and competitions. Responsibilities may require adjusted work schedule and local location.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must: (1) have passion for working in the engineering and programming arenas (2) possess excellent communication (writing and computer) skills, (3) have an understanding of general robotics programming principles, (4) have a solid understanding of programming in JAVA, (4) have obtained or working towards a bachelor?s degree from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSAs):

  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of computer science/computer engineering and math concepts
  • Knowledge of basic engineering concepts
  • Knowledge of basic programming software
  • Skills to program robots
  • Skills to promote student collaboration within a team structure
  • Skills to guide team brainstorming
  • Skills to independently complete necessary tasks without major supervision
  • Ability to research the design, operation and programming performance of robotic mechanism components or systems
  • Ability to serve as technical support for the robotics team
  • Ability to serve as a liaison between parents/guardians and SR1
  • Ability to learn, program, and teach back LEGO robotics
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing and electronically
  • Ability to incorporate excellent organization skills into daily tasks

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $11.00 - $25.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability
