Summary
This position is located at the Harpers Ferry Forest Service Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center. Incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of routine office automation and clerical support functions for the Center.

Responsibilities
- Performs office automation work using word processing software and several other types of software such as databases, graphics, spreadsheets and similar software packages to produce a variety of documents, reports, records.
- Performs a substantial range of functions within each type of software.
- Edits and reformats electronic drafts of reports prepared by staff members.
- Reads directives and instructional material pertaining to administrative practices and clerical procedures in order to be aware of new revised or amended procedures.
- Proofreads completed work for accuracy and ensures correct spelling, grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and proper format. Ensures that office correspondence is properly prepared for signature.
- Communicate with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, and disseminate or explain information.
- Provides general clerical support to the office staff.

Qualifications

Experience Requirement:
GS-04: Applicants must have one year of progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work which provided the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position being filled. Examples of qualifying experience are: Performing reception or general clerical duties; using common office machines or equipment such as personal computers, copying machines, fax machines, binding, stapling or hole punching equipment.
OR an associate's degree or two years of successfully completed education above high school;
OR combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
GS05: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-4 grade level. Examples of specialized experience are: Performing general clerical support such as greeting visitors, maintaining files, and typing letters; assisting in the analysis of incoming routine and controlled correspondence, including mail, faxes, and documents; reviewing sections of agency or organizational directives and routine procedures to perform routine tasks such as correspondence work, filing processing mail, and assisting with travel, property management and procurement of office supplies.
OR a bachelor's degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school;
OR combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
