JOB TITLE: Junior High Attendance/Discipline Secretary


POSITION STATUS: Full-time Part-time

BASE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school graduate
  • Previous office experience
  • Successful completion of district background check
  • Effective communicator (both orally and in writing)
  • Skills in interpersonal relations, organization, prioritization, problem solving
  • Computer skills/manual dexterity
  • Attention to detail

REPORTS TO: Assistant Principal/Principal


RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Assistant Principal/Principal


JOB GOAL: To interact positively with students and staff in a friendly, helpful manner,
and perform secretarial duties efficiently and expeditiously to benefit the
operation of the school and its attendance and discipline programs.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months


EVALUATION: Evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the district?s

Personnel Evaluation Policy


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain student attendance/discipline records/detentions/locker assignments
  • Post attendance on computer and contact families daily
  • Run attendance and discipline reports/letters
  • Communicate attendance concerns with the Assistant Principal, Principal, and guidance counselors
  • Answer phone, intercom, and e-mail communication
  • Report attendance and discipline concerns to appropriate community agencies
  • Maintain bell schedule, update marquee sign, cafeteria TVs with daily announcements
  • Coordinate with JH Administration regarding changes in Junior High/District Student Handbook
  • Ability to operate office machines
  • Cover for other office staff during lunch and breaks
  • Supervision of students in the office area
  • Coordinate homework for students who are absent due to illness or other reasons
  • Monitor camera security system
  • Maintain staff attendance/coordinate substitutes through AESOP system/weekly report
  • Yearly update staff supervision
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Other duties as assigned by building principal


Work Environment/Conditions

  • Ability to work varied hours as requested including early mornings and evenings.
  • Ability to work in a smoke-free and drug-free work environment.   • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, and the public and to be able to demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Proficient with technology skills ? Microsoft Office Suite, district programs (including Infinite Campus, Google, etc.), internet, e-mail, etc.
  • Balance a variety of tasks and projects at the same time.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
