Our Sumter location is seeking an Inspector II (Lab Technician) to join our Conti Seal & Silent department. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, is dependable and accountable.

THE POSITION

• Carry out laboratory tests for the material produced in Conti Seal & Silent according to the methods defined to monitor their properties, acceptance, and rejection
• Ensure compliance with the specifications and requirements and ensure quality throughout the production process
• Carry out tests in accordance with the control plan defined for the materials produced in the Conti Seal & Silent, in accordance with the methods and tests defined in the POMS to ensure monitoring of the quality of the product(s)
• Maintain and purchase all supporting materials to have them available for applying the test methods
• Carry out all supporting materials to have them available for the cohort applying the test methods (MRS solution)
• Collaborate in the preparation of internal and external audits, according to the requirements of the standards of qualities
• Assure lab compliance to ISO/TS 16949
• Perform basic maintenance and cleaning operations of laboratory equipment to ensure the proper functioning of the equipment
• Assist in other areas of the Conti Seal & Silent department to improve plant performance
• Assist in trouble shooting of manufacturing process in area of responsibilities
• Must have good verbal and writing communication, attention to detail, and knowledge of tire compound technology
• Utilize Microsoft and problem-solving skills
• Follow the internal ESH work instructions in the daily work
• Demonstrate exemplary personal behavior in ESH and motivate others
• Ensure immediate notification and response, and initiate preventive measures in case of unsafe or polluting hazards
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED
• One or more years? experience in a manufacturing environment
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
• Continental is not able to pay relocation expenses for this opportunity

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Associates or bachelor?s degree in chemistry
• One or more years? experience in Continental quality or visual inspecting
• Knowledge of tire process
