    Summary

    About the Position: This position is with the US Army Sustainment Command, 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Transportation Division, located in Fort McCoy, Wisconsin


    Responsibilities

    • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of commercial transportation and traffic management principles and practices relating to surface and air transport of passengers and materials.
    • Provide technical supervision over the Departure/Arrival Airfield Control Group operations, Port Support Activity operations, government railway operations, or container handling facilities.
    • Recommends more serious disciplinary actions to higher officials.
    • Serve as the Installation Transportation Officer.
    • Provide transportation support services to military, government civilian and contractor personnel assigned to military units, garrison and tenant activities within the geographic area of responsibility.
    • Oversee the provision of a range of installation transportation services which may include commercial movement of personal property and freight, via motor, rail, and/or water services.
    • Monitor contractor performance and report all contract violations to the contracting officers as appropriate.
    • Perform long range planning for accomplishing the transportation mission of the installation.
    • Coordinate the work of the Transportation Division with command representatives, organizations and units supported.
    • Manage the transportation program within available resources to provide optimum traffic and transportation response to needs and requirements of civilian, military and contractor installation workforce.
    • Review budget and fund estimates received from within the division.
    • Keep abreast of new or changing regulatory material and requirements on transportation functions.
    • Oversee the Transportation Division on matters and policies relating to personnel management.
    • Promote compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and merit promotion programs to ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees.
    • Recommends promotions, monetary and honorary awards, and recognition; makes or recommends selection for subordinate non-supervisory positions.
    • Makes decisions on work problems presented by staff.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing technical guidance over all facets of transportation related to personal property movement, personnel travel and transportation; monitoring current and long-range work planning and operation procedures, and overseeing the division on matters and policies relating to personnel management, assigning and explaining work requirements; and evaluating work performance to provide methods of improvement. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
