Director of Technology Innovation Consultant Full-time

Position Summary:

Highly experienced, disciplined, and innovative information systems and technology leader to shape the vision and future direction of Selfhelp?s Innovations. Reporting to the Vice President, Technology and Informatics, the Director, Technology Innovations will be a key member of technology leadership team, identifying opportunities to leverage and align technology innovation with service delivery to further advance Selfhelp?s core mission and services and support the diversification of its revenue streams. The Director will oversee vision, strategy and operations across all Innovations projects, including the Virtual Senior Center (VSC), and work in collaboration with content and client-program management teams and executive stakeholders.

Note this position has a possibility of transitioning to a permanent full time position next year.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic planning to achieve organizational goals by identifying and prioritizing technology development initiatives, products and innovations that advance Selfhelp?s impact and service deliver
  • Oversee and continuously advance the development of Selfhelp?s portfolio or market leading IT product and scalable solutions including ? Selfhelp Innovations ? Client Centered Technology and Virtual Senior Centers to further promote Selfhelp?s work in the home and community based healthcare markets.
  • Direct the technology operations of the Virtual Senior Center, including support services to client programs, product releases, and supporting business development efforts, and executive reporting. Develop and implement policies and practices assuring the Virtual Senior Center is operational in accordance with a service level agreement and continues to advance to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Work with leadership in all departments to understand both gaps in service and future trends in order to help consider new technology platforms and solutions for potential development
  • Represent Selfhelp at conferences, provide and other external stakeholder meetings to leverage new technology developments in the field and promote Selfhelp?s work.
  • Build and maintain strong industry process and product knowledge to identify emerging trends in gerontechnology, information technology, clinical practice and healthcare informatics.
  • Selects, trains and assigns staff. Builds expertise amongst team members; creating professional development plans, and providing support for growth in role.
  • Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
  • Develops and recommends operating budget goals and ensures that the department operates within budget. Conducts ongoing analysis of needs. Makes appropriate recommendations, taking into account a cost benefit analysis.
  • Manages relationship with third parties and vendors.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

Working Conditions/Physical Demand:

  • 2-3 days a week working remotely
  • 2-3 days a week working in the main office in New York City

Knowledge, Skills And Requirements
  • Bachelor?s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related field.
  • At least 10 years of progressive responsible leadership experience for technology solutions, software development, and technical services.
  • Three years of experience supervising staff
  • 5 years of leadership experience and project success in a highly complex organization with budget experience.
  • 5 years of software development experience
  • Five years project management experience
  • A strong commitment to the mission and core values of Selfhelp
