Supervising Counselor Full-time

Degree Requirements:

  • Master's degree or higher, in psychology, social work, counseling or related field

Minimum Requirements:

  • Licensed as a LMFT, LPC, LCSW or related license.
  • Minimum of four years of experience working in the mental health field with 2 years being post full licensure.


  • Proficient with MS Office, Outlook and Internet Explorer
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound judgment and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proficient with modern standard office equipment


Provide and coordinate clinical services throughout the course of an individual's treatment. Ensure treatment practices are in accordance with practice standards, are appropriate to client needs and in compliance with agency standards. Professionalism, ethical conduct and active participation with colleagues is essential and includes treatment coordination between other Peak Wellness staff and community providers.


1. Responsible for implementation of services in accordance with agency plans for service and policies and procedures.

2. Receives referrals for services from the Referral Team. Refers inappropriate referrals to appropriate community services provider(s).

3. Complete required clinical documentation, including Clinical Assessments, Treatment Plans, MIS, and other required documentation in a timely manner.

4. Provides individual, group, family, case management and other therapy. Makes appropriate referrals as needed during course of treatment

5. Provide clinical supervision as assigned by the clinic director.

6. Provides administrative supervision to staff reporting directly to them.

7. Meets or exceeds the Agency standard of expected minimum direct services productivity (25 hours per week adjusted down one (1) hour per supervisee based on # of clinical and administrative supervisees).

8. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with other community providers, coordinating to provide joint treatment as needed.

9. Prepares written reports regularly, as needed, in a timely manner.

10. Provides emergency services during work hours and after hours as assigned.

11. Provides program, case consultation and education services internally and to other community groups and individuals.

12. Provides liaison services for local, regional and state hospitals to ensure continuity of care for Clinic clients.

13. Attends staff meetings, supervisor conferences, treatment team meetings and other activities, which ensure the smooth function of clinic operations.

14. Coordinates treatment team meetings as needed which may include staff, or other persons or organizations directly involved with the treatment of the client.

15. Assists in training, groups, and other staff as requested.

16. Ensure that supervisees perform their job responsibilities as described in their job descriptions. Provide supervisees with information required for them to adequately perform their assigned responsibilities.

17. Provide on-going feedback to supervisees regarding the agency's expectations for the performance of their job responsibilities.

  • Ensure that supervisees are knowledgeable of and comply with all agency policies and procedures. Activities include:
  • Monitoring clinical documentation, including progress notes, to ensure that it is accurate, consistent with the plan of treatment, reflective of the treatment provided, and completed in compliance with agency policies.
  • Ensuring that all clinical documentation is completed and submitted on a timely basis in compliance with agency policies.
  • Ensuring that supervisees comply with agency ethical standards, the professional standards of their field, and all legal aspects of clinical practice.

18. Assist staff with addressing problems with client accounts and maintain therapeutic responsibility.

19. Assist supervisees to efficiently utilize agency resources.

20. Assist supervisees to identify ways in which they may evaluate and improve the quality of their services and respond productively to feedback from quality improvement activities. Assist supervisees to develop individualized plans for professional development, including issues of cultural competence.

21. Evaluate the performance of supervisees annually or more often as determined by agency policies.

22. Assist all staff in promoting a healthy, comfortable and supportive working environment.

23. Assist clinical supervisees to develop and implement effective treatment for their clients. Activities include:

  • Reviewing clinical assessments with supervisees to ensure they are thorough and complete.
  • Reviewing initial and subsequent treatment plans with supervisees to ensure that treatment plans are consistent with other documentation including the clinical assessment, reflective of clinical and cultural needs of the client, that treatment plans are clear and logical, that the client has participated in the development of the treatment plan, and that the treatment plan is clinically appropriate and reflective of current best practices.
  • Ensuring that required assessments (FARS/CFARS, ASI, Basis-24) have been completed in conjunction with the treatment plan, and that the results of the assessment have been utilized in the development of the treatment plan.
  • Addressing complex clinical issues in the treatment of high-risk clients, unimproved clients, treatment failures and critical incidents.

23. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Clinic Director, or Chief Clinical Officer.
