    Duties

    Summary

    About the Position: As a Test Administrator, you will administer tests to individuals wishing to enter the military and high school students participating in the Career Exploration Program. This position does not provide guaranteed work hours each week, and work will be assigned on an intermittent "as needed basis". Occasional shift work may include some Saturdays. Intermittent employees are not eligible for benefits.


    Responsibilities

    • Administer written and computerized tests in the local commuting area (up to a 100 miles radius when necessary.
    • Use personal vehicle to transport test materials.
    • Maintain security and inventory of test materials.
    • Review applicants test admission forms.
    • Respond to test applicant questions.
    • Ensure that only scheduled and authorized participants are admitted to the test site.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
    • This is an intermittent position which requires employees to work on an irregular basis for which there is no prearranged tour of duty and may require availability on periodic evening and weekend hours.
    • You may be required to travel up to 50 percent of your duty time and be able to commute within a 100 mile radius of the duty station to perform testing.
    • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
    • This work requires periods of standing, walking, sitting and driving. It may involve long days when tests are at remote locations.
    • Test materials must be carried to and from the examination room. The amount of test materials carried will vary from session to session, but will rarely exceed 30 pounds per box in weight.
    • The nature of this work will require you to drive in all types of weather conditions and for two or more hours during the tour of duty.

    In order to qualify, you must meet the education or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, conducting thorough checks to ensure forms are properly completed; distributing and collecting materials while accurately accounting for those materials; presenting basic instructions to individual and/or groups and ensuring their understanding of instructions; utilizing automated systems to provide reports/information to others.

    Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
    OR
    Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
    This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service, GS-03.
