School Clerk Level IV Full-time

  • High school graduation or equivalent and appropriate secretarial experience of a progressively responsible nature, preferably in an educational system.

Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Performing Administrative Activities - Performing day to day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
Organizational Ability - The ability and willingness to organize and utilize resources to achieve results.
Workflow Management - The ability and willingness to perform work within defined specifications and timelines and to manage conflicting priorities.
Stakeholder Relations - The ability and willingness to interact and communicate effectively with stakeholders (parents, community organizations, staff members, etc.). Residency Requirements City of Pittsburgh Residency Required Essential Job Functions 1. Excellent typing, word processing and spreadsheet skills required, shorthand preferred.
2. Individual qualified to perform, assign, coordinate, anticipate and initiate all office procedures which are considerably complex and responsible.
3. Ability to exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative in interpretation and implementation of rules and procedures.
4. Ability to perform arithmetic computations, prepare, maintain and monitor numerical documents, records, forms, etc.
5. Aptitude to establish, maintain, and revise extensive files, perform research and retrieve information.
6. Demonstrate appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to analyze, recommend, or make independent decisions affecting clerical procedures.
8. Qualified to supervise a large secretarial staff.
9. Ability to perform related duties as required. Additional Job Information Physical Demands: This position is primarily sedentary in nature. Employee will be required to operate computer system for data entry, and have the ability to complete necessary paperwork. This position requires minimum physical effort and not subjected to Occupational Health and Safety risks.
Work Environment:
1. Indoors in busy office, working in close proximity to co-worker
2. Frequently required to work at fast pace
3. Requires considerable concentration and creativity.
