General Summary: The User Experience Designer will be responsible for designing engaging experiences that create positive outcomes for both the customer and the business. The role is responsible for several areas of the design process including analysis of user needs, architecture of layouts, flows and interactions, and detailed aesthetics for written and visual content. The UX Designer will work directly with Product Owners and Engineers to specify and deliver great user experiences and will be expected to be well versed in research methodology and current design trends.

Reports to: User Experience Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Design Responsibilities:

  • Craft intuitive and shippable product experiences, leveraging DSW design standards, industry best practices and customer feedback
  • Produce design deliverables utilizing the Sketch app, Invision and/or other prototyping tools:
    • Detailed site maps, user & task flows, user journeys, page flows, taxonomies, etc.
    • Wireframes, annotations, and prototypes
    • Detail visuals & mockups
  • Lead cross-functional design reviews for all necessary features
  • Evaluate competitor and industry websites to provide a meaningful analysis of findings
  • Prioritize, plan and help conduct user research, including user interviews, usability testing, task analysis and contextual inquiry.

General Responsibilities:

  • Operate in an agile development environment, working closely with product owners, engineers, analytics and QA
  • Support and influence product roadmap planning and prioritization
  • Establish design acceptance criteria for features and ensure that the implementation meets design standards.
  • Collaborate closely with agile teams to work through design details during the development of code.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in using Sketch, Invision and other design tools.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS.
  • Communication and presentation skills with ability to clearly present work and articulate the rationale for decisions that led to it.
  • Confidence and self-motivation to drive forward projects that will improve the user?s experience

Qualifications


Experience:

  • 3+ years of design experience for consumers and consumer brands

Education:

  • Bachelor?s Degree in business, IT, design, creative, communications, or related field
