Title: Assistant Store Manager

Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Store field team

Reporting Relationship: Store Manager

Position Summary

The assistant manager works alongside the store manger to oversee the daily operations of the store. He/she is primarily responsible for achieving sales goals through ensuring an exceptional customer experience. The assistant manager assists the store manager in effectively training and coaching store associates into a high performing team. The assistant manager must foster a fun and unique environment that allows all customers and associates to play beautifully.

Drive for Results

  • Execute the store business plan to drive overall sales and key performance indicators
  • Analyze reporting and daily sales trends
  • Partner with the store manager to make real-time strategic business decisions to drive results
  • Train and develop team on business acumen
  • Make scheduling adjustments to meet business needs
  • Continue to build customer loyalty through a unique and special in-store experience

Talent Development

  • Train and coach the sales team through daily interactions
  • Assist store manager in coaching and developing the team to succession into bigger roles
  • Support the annual review process
  • Consistently provide performance feedback to associates
  • Drive employee engagement by recognizing and rewarding employees for outstanding performance
  • Recognize and partner with store manager to resolve all performance and customer issues.

Visual Standards and Operational Excellence

  • Maintain company brand standards by ensuring a neat clean and organized sales floor, cash wrap and backroom
  • Execute all visual directives and schematics to ensure the floor is set properly and timely
  • Ensure the efficient and productive handling of all merchandise including shipment receipt, processing and replenishment
  • Ensure shrink results meet company loss prevention standards


  • Minimum of high school education or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-3 years retail management experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of beauty and cosmetics
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-velocity environment
  • Strong communication and follow-up skills
  • Ability to coach, provide feedback
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holidays, nights and weekends
  • Must be a beauty enthusiast and a product junky
