Custom Mechanical Drafter Full-time

Position Summary The Custom Mechanical Drafter is primarily responsible for creating technical drawings based on given specifications for mechanical parts and assemblies using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment. Will create and modify 3D designers as needed


Duties and Responsibilities • Complete layouts, shop drawings, assign part numbers; create bills of material, complete routings, cost estimates, and installation sheets for custom products so manufacturing can be completed in a timely manner. • Completed drawings with safety and compliance codes in mind. • Creates and edits/updates BOM in ERP system. • Develop detailed designs and specifications for mechanical parts and assemblies using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment. • Interfaces with suppliers, marketing, engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing to assure designs meet objectives for quality, performance, schedule, costs and manufacturability (DFMA). • Confers with customer to identify the root cause of problems that develops with design and implement corrective actions through ECO’s. • Support planning and builds of custom and/or prototype assemblies. • Support product testing as needed. • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year college or technical school in mechanical drafting. • Entry level up to 5 year work experience as a Mechanical Designer/Drafter using 3D CAD (Solidworks and AutoCAD preferred). • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel, Lotus Notes, ERP system and PDM Software. • Able to multi-task, and pay attention to detail and accuracy. • Able to make sound and timely decisions.
