SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
Responsible for general maintenance, exhibit construction, and historic construction using a variety of carpentry techniques. This includes rough and finish work, wood and steel construction, and general maintenance capabilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Builds and erects studded walls, wood and steel and installs drywall.
  • Fabricates and erects heavy timber frames.
  • Builds and installs windows and doors, wood and steel.
  • Repairs/installs modern roofing, wood and asphalt.
  • Repairs/restores historic building materials using modern methods.
  • Constructs wood and steel fences.
  • Builds forms and assists on cement projects.
  • Fabricates and installs moldings and trim.
  • Constructs cabinetry, including laminate work.
  • Installs locks and related hardware.
  • Installs ceilings and flooring.
  • Performs other activities as necessary.
  • Contributes to the effective team management of all problems, issues, and opportunities.
  • Acts as a team player and provides expertise within team and with other teams as appropriate.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum seven years’ experience as Journeyman Carpenter with residential/commercial background.


SPECIAL SKILLS
Knowledge of wood and steel construction, drywall, flooring, ceilings, windows and doors. Knowledge of general woodworking and maintenance; ability to read blueprints; ability to operate hand power tools.
