System Administrator I

The System Administrator I assists in the design, installation, administration, securing and optimization of servers, storage, and related components to achieve high performance and availability of the various business applications. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring new implementations, and supporting processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Administration and support of all servers and applications.
  • Administration and support of core NetApp, Cisco UCS Blade and VMWare platforms and technologies.
  • Configuring and administering PC and server hardware, PC or server-based application software, PC or server-based operating systems and peripheral hardware.
  • Maintaining and supporting the DR Site to be able to provide optimal performance
  • Supporting or administering the installation of upgrades, patches, applications, and equipment.
  • Supporting implementation of hardware/software changes and monitoring performance of new equipment to ensure compliance with performance metrics.
  • Assisting in planning and installation of file servers, changes to file server configuration, monitoring of server performance, and troubleshooting of file server problems as requested.
  • Responding in a timely manner to PC hardware/software problems as reported by LFCU employees, to include diagnostic identification of problem situations and problem resolution support.
  • Providing technical reporting as requested by the Infrastructure Manager. Consults with other LFCU department leaders to resolve problems and to document technical requests.
  • Ensuring computer hardware/software inventories are maintained for the existing LFCU infrastructure.
  • Supporting the installation and setup of PC hardware and peripherals as required to support network security processes to ensure the LFCU network operates as a secure environment.
  • Providing Help-Desk support and participating in on-call rotation as scheduled and directed by the Infrastructure Manager.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two-year degree from a college or university specializing in Information Systems, Computer Science or other related fields or equivalent combination of working experience and training.
  • Microsoft MCSE certification for current Microsoft technologies or equivalent combination of working experience/training.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience working in a multi-server network environment demonstrating knowledge of enterprise LANs; WANs; SANs/NAS; networking theory, distributed computing, principles of routing; and client/server configurations
