Manager, Data Scientist - Strategic Pricing (North America) Full-time

Position Purpose

CHEP NA - Brambles is seeking a Data Scientist to assist with continued development and implementation of a Pricing and Revenue Optimization strategy that leverages econometrics and other core Value based and Revenue Management principles to drive increased sales at profitable margins. The Data Scientist will work cross-functionally with teams across North America to create management data processing projects and construct data warehouses, leveraging database organization skills and advanced data analytics techniques and by partnering with various functions (Pricing, Revenue management, Fleet, Operations, Commercial Finance, Supply Chain, Sales etc.), to develop advanced tools and resources to support and drive diagnostics tools and develop solutions for Pricing, Marketing and Revenue Management related projects and strategies. The scientist will be working with large sets of structured and unstructured data to perform analysis, develop tools and provide actionable insights.

Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Learn the existing monthly process for downloading data from multiple sources
  • Understand current and develop new IT tools to automate the monthly processing of data
  • Develop several views and Insights of the final data
  • Develop Excel Tools for KPI’s that will eventually be integrated into the CRM and the BI tool.
  • Create a Pricing Elasticity Model based on value drivers and pricing segmentation that can be used in the Internal Pricing system.
  • Responsible for developing new organizational capabilities aimed at proactively monitoring the external environment, using this information to assess implications and strategic options for our business, and recommending appropriate competitive and commercial strategies.
  • Strategically evaluates market and competitive data to extract key trends and identify emerging business opportunities or risks. Combines this information with CHEP specific business knowledge, and develops actionable business insights to support strategic Sales growth and customer retention.
  • Effectively coordinates, captures, synthesizes and analyses customer, industry and competitive insights from various channels including team generated research, field resources, customer interactions and data, and supply chain intelligence.
  • Defines and manages a process for Customer At-Risk Analysis and Win-back strategy. Works with Sales, Finance, and Senior Leadership to ensure a proactive approach to protecting and growing customer base

Skills and Knowledge

  • Professional degree or equivalent
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, SAS, Access and Teradata
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and create databases
  • Demonstrated ability to query and derive meaning from large data sets in relational databases such as SQL Server, Teradata, Oracle or other.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; particularly advanced Excel functionality including Pivot Tables, Macros, and advanced/logic functions. VBA a plus.
  • Working experience with programming languages like R, Python and advanced visualization platforms such as Tableau.
  • Knowledge of SAP a plus
  • Commercial or business development experience
  • Excellent communication, relationship building, stakeholder management and influencing abilities.

  • A demonstrated ability to deliver results in support of key business objectives and stakeholder needs
