Police Secretary Full-time

Job Description: Under supervision (or general supervision of ) the Chief of Police or assigned supervisor, performs a wide variety of clerical, secretarial, routine and non-routine administrative and programmatic work in support of the Administration Department, or division or function assigned; exercising judgement and initiative, relieves assigned staff of clearly defined and delegated administrative or technical detail; sorts, logs, and maintains a variety of files, data and records; and assists citizens and the general public and provides information related to specific area of assignment. Provide information, calendar of events to the public and other departments over the telephone or in person when information requested. Requires basic typing and word processing skills. Perform verbatim transcription of audio and videotapes. General administrative functions as needed for the Gallup Police. Able to maintain confidentiality. Additional Information: STARTING HOURLY PAY: $9.96 p/h

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED
Two (2) years office/clerical experience
Must be able to pass a skill aptitude test of 35 WPM: (Must be submitted with application).
Valid driver"s license (state of residence). Must meet City"s insurability requirements.

Other Conditions:
Must pass a required assessment questionnaire and background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certificate for completion of Secretarial training and/or coursework from an accredited program
