Let it be a canvas for your own personal storiesOverview: Manage business travel segment and assigned group accounts to ensure individual revenue goals are achieved or exceeded through soliciting past and new business. Assist the Director of Sales & Marketing by supporting the group, marketing and catering sales managers to reach the agreed upon revenue goals.
  • Business Travel:
  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed business travel revenue goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
  • Advanced level of producing business transient revenue through directly soliciting business via aggressive prospecting, making presentations, developing contracts, negotiating and closing sales.
  • Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel, both orally and in written form to previous, current and potential clients.
  • Handle account details so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented. Coordinate various departments' participation in servicing accounts
  • Prepare information for, meet with and entertain clients as deemed appropriate by potential business from that account.
  • Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to all departments in the hotel to ensure high quality of service to customers.
  • Create Business Travel Promotions/Packages as needed
  • Update HEI sales systems and business travel reporting as needed for weekly sales strategy meetings
  • Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings.
  • Group:
  • Handle account details per assigned market so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented. Coordinate various departments? participation in servicing accounts.
  • Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel, both orally and in written form to previous, current and potential clients.
  • Participate in daily business review meeting, LEAD meetings, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required
  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
  • Create Group Sales Promotions as needed
  • Leadership
  • Direct the solicitation/re-solicitation efforts of the group and catering sales staff.
  • Assist in recruitment efforts when applicable, interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, and provide open communication with managers and executive committee leadership
  • Ensure training programs are conducted regularly and HEI standards of performance are met. Give guidance and counsel staff toward improvement.
  • Provide support and direction to group and catering sales managers? sales related activities to maximize revenue for the hotel.
  • Compile and/or direct the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Sales Department to include, but not limited to the daily LEAD meetings, mid-month booking forecasts, group booking pace report, star reports and sales meeting minutes when applicable.
  • Organize and/or attend scheduled sales department, and related meetings.
  • Daily communication with Director of Sales & Marketing
  • Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Professionally represent the hotel in community and industry organizations and events.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Sales & Marketing oversee departmental matters as they relate to federal, state, and local employment and civil rights laws.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of sales leadership, business travel sales, and group sales experience in similar sized operation preferred. Experience with FH&R and THC preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Knowledge of computer accounting programs, and math skills
  • Extensive knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, recruitment, supervision, training, and motivation of managers.
  • Ability to effectively listen, communicate and perform diplomacy with internal and external customers and staff in all situations.
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
