Position description

Exempt: Function independently and collaboratively with the laboratory leadership in performing all major work responsibilities of professional laboratory practice. Possesses expertise in laboratory specific discipline(s). Apply problem solving, prioritizing, team/interpersonal and independent skills and abilities on a daily basis. Adapts to rapidly changing workloads and responds to emergent situations. Provides technical support and oversight within the hub structure. Travel is required of this position.

Preferred applicant will have experience working in a full service microbiology laboratory.

Qualifications

Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Medical/Clinical Laboratory Science, or health related field. Completion of a clinical laboratory internship. An HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree. Four years of experience actively working in a moderate or high complexity clinical laboratory. Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Excellent working knowledge of laboratory regulatory standards. Knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices. Ability to be effective in a diverse work group. Ability to work independently. Ability to exercise independent judgment and render decisions. Prioritization and problem solving skills. Critical thinking skills required. Computer skills required. Excellent customer service skills. Knowledge of relevant factors which can influence testing results. Knowledge of CLIA standards. Experience with operational and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays. Demonstrate the ability to multi-task in a variety of situations. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Must be able to demonstrate leadership and project management skills. Must possess a thorough understanding of processes and primary missions.

Additional qualifications

Preferred: ASCP Certification in area of Specialty: Blood Banking, SBB (ASCP), Chemistry, SC (ASCP), Cytotechnology, SCT (ASCP), Hematology, SH (ASCP), Microbiology, SM (ASCP), or appropriate HHS (Health Human Services) approved laboratory certifications: Medical Technologist, MT (ASCP), Clinical Laboratory Scientist, CLS (ASCP), Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS (ASCP), Medical Technologist, MT (AMT), Histotechnologist, HTL, Cytotechnologist, CT (ASCP). Preferred working knowledge of electronic document management systems, working knowledge of laboratory information and reporting systems.
