Job Title: Business Manager
Program: Church and School
Reports to: Pastor
Pay Status: Part Time, 12 Month, hours per week paid hourly

The Business Manager is responsible for the operational finances,marketing, and business planning of the church and school. This position is accountable to the pastor(s) and Principal and, through them to the Board of Ed and Board of Elders and, through the boards to Church Council and congregation. The Business Manager will report regularly to the boards regarding all aspects of his/her responsibilities. The Business Manager will work as an administration team member with the pastor of the congregation in developing and implementing an effective total ministry. The team relationships will be characterized by loyalty and cooperation in a common purpose and ministry for Christ. The team is accountable to the Church Council and the congregation. As a member of Faith Lutheran?s staff, this position collaborates with the team to achieve the ministry goals, mission, and vision ? REACH IN. REACH OUT. REACH ALL. Job responsibilities and performance will be reviewed annually by the Pastor and the Board of Elders, with priorities mutually set.


  • Implementing policies adopted by the Boards and the congregation
  • Maintains positive relationships with salespeople, educational personnel of the government and the Church, and the general public.

  • Oversees enrollment process
  • Works with Pastor and Principal to develop annual budgets
  • Prepares and approve payment of bills for the school
  • Manages electronic withdrawal accounts
  • Orders and oversees purchasing of materials and equipment
  • Manages job postings and follow up
  • Executes new hire on-boarding process
  • Maintains required staff records
  • Manages weekly billing and bank deposits
  • Completes required state and local reporting
  • Maintains church management system
  • Oversees website


  • Minimum of an Associates degree in Business preferred.
  • Preferred financial experience.
  • Minimum 1 year work experience in a professional setting.


  • Has total parish awareness, showing interest in the total educational program of the congregation.
  • Is willing to become a member of Faith Lutheran Church and participate actively in congregational activities including regular attendance at worship service and Holy Communion.
  • Participates in community activities and takes an active role whenever possible.
  • Is able to clearly articulate the objectives of the Lutheran school.
  • Is willing to make decisions, and exercises good judgment in doing so.
  • Uses time efficiently, organizes work systematically, and follows through on plans.
  • Have good communication skills: writing, speaking, and listening.
