Alabama marble company is the sole owner of the white marble quarry in Sylacauga, Alabama. The material was used to construct the lincoln memorial, the capital hill and the supreme judicial court.

Position Summary

Coordinates administrative office services such as coordinating general business activities for themselves and others, appointment-setting, records control, and other administrative activities for a company/department/division/center or other organizational units. Interprets operating policies. Exercises independent judgment in the resolution of administrative problems. Recording keeping and reporting to the central accounting function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

§ Handles incoming and outgoing phone and electronic communications on behalf of executive management. Routes incoming calls to appropriate party quickly and efficiently.

§ Independently creates well-organized, grammatically correct memos and reports for distribution to members of various departments.

§ Assists with special events planning.

§ Coordinates and implements general office services such as appointment-setting, records control, and other administrative activities. Coordinate budget accounting operations.

§ In conjunction with accounting and safety director analyzes unit operating practices such as record-keeping systems, forms control, office layout, and personnel requirements. Creates new systems or revises established procedures.

§ Interprets and communicates operating policies.

§ Coordinates collection and preparation of financial and operations reports.

§ Locates and compiles information. Formats reports, graphs, tables, records and other sources of information.

§ Assembles and categorizes facts and figures for written computation and calculations.

§ Operates personal computer to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software.

§ Uses various software applications such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.

§ Exercises administrative judgment. Assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results impacting staff, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area.

§ Logistics / shipping administration

§ Responsibility for coordinating all health and safety documentation prepared by vendors

§ Record keeping accounting inputs

Other Duties & Responsibilities

§ May oversee or coordinate the work of others.

§ May perform other duties as assigned.

§ Track and ensure all visitors to the quarry are scheduled and sign the required MSHA/ADEM documents prior to walking about the property

§ Keep time for the workers at the quarry

§ Monitor bill of ladings for incoming deliveries (consumables, etc.)

§ Monitor bill of lading for outgoing block shipments

§ Coordination with accounting team

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

§ High School Diploma or GED (Two years of college or equivalent work experience preferred)

§ Three years of related experience. Additional education may be substituted for years of work experience.

§ Able to exchange non-routine information using tact and persuasion as appropriate

§ Good oral and written communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $13.00 to $16.00 /hour
