Accounts Payable Accountant Full-time

As the Accounts Payable Accountant, you will work with the Accounting team to create accurate and timely financial records for the organization in a fast-moving environment. While your focus will be accounts payable tasks, you will be exposed to the broader aspects of accounting that comes from working in a small company. With a heavy emphasis on utilizing systems to accomplish your tasks, you will work with purchase orders, vendors, invoicing, and balancing processes while working closely and reporting to the Financial Controller. We are looking for a motivated accounting professional who is detail-oriented, forward-thinking, systems savvy, and can work alongside a multitude of personalities.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor?s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent years of experience.
  • 3-5 years accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of computer use and systems navigation.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • 5+ years accounting experience.
  • Use of ERP systems, specifically Microsoft Dynamics AX.
Essential Functions
1. Perform functions across broad areas of both accounting with a primary focus on Accounts Payable
2. Communicate and build relationships with co-workers, management, clients, vendors, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
3. Perform timely work with accuracy, thoroughness, and completeness to ensure compliance to all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions as defined within the department.

Detailed Tasks

  • Process purchase order (PO) and non-PO related vendor invoices in the ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics AX).
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and interact with vendors regarding issues relating to invoices.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and work with buyers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Book appropriate accruals for month end close and ensure all costs have been recorded in the correct period.
  • Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries.
  • Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities, verifying federal id numbers, scheduling and preparing checks, and resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Assist in monthly, quarterly, and yearly close process.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and best practices across multiple areas of accounting.
  • Systems navigation and use in entering, tracking, and researching accounting information.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, managing files and records, and other office procedures.

  • Documenting/Recording Information?Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic form.
  • Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationships ? Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
  • Detail Orientation?Paying attention to details and making a conscious effort to understand causes, instead of just the effects, and avoiding mistakes.
