Vice President Information Technology Full-time

The Vice President, Information Technology has overall responsibility for providing information technology services and support for all Lynden companies; and for introducing new technology where it can be effectively used.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Serves as the main point of contact for the Lynden Family of Companies in the use of technology to meet corporate goals and objectives. Responsible for the promotion and the effective and efficient use of technology within Lynden companies. Establishes and encourages appropriate technology oversight with Lynden companies? management. Facilitates inter-company cooperation and coordination of technology use.
Responsible for the direction and oversight for the design, development, operation and support of IT systems and programs that fulfill the needs of the business, including enterprise architecture management, application management, security and risk management, and infrastructure and operations support management. Responsible for the acquisition and management of applications and licenses; for technology business consulting and project management; and the administration and coordination of information technology services to the Lynden companies.
Responsible for developing policies, standards and processes related to the use of information technology, and for educating the Lynden companies in the proper use of technology.
Serves as Chair of the Information Technology Review meetings and Application Steering Committee and provides information for the review regarding information technology, budgets, projects, staffing, policies and standards.
Responsible for providing sufficient resources to meet the technology needs of the Lynden companies, including staffing, outsourcing and consulting as appropriate. Manages the relationships and contracts with technology service providers.
Serves as a point of contact for outside sources with regard to Lynden?s technical capabilities, and as Lynden?s technical representative on various technology and industry groups as appropriate.
Participates in Lynden?s business planning process as part of the Lynden Incorporated executive team.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises managers within the Information Technology department and some consulting and project management staff. Determines staffing, pay levels and organizational structure within the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years of leadership responsibilities in transportation and information technology.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Requires knowledge of technology used at Lynden companies. Requires the ability to use a personal computer and software in use at Lynden Incorporated. Ability to coach, mentor and motivate others.
